Another Reason I Appreciate John MacArthur - Explains True Gospel on CNN

The Gospel is so good and so simple and yet so many people reject it in favor of a politically correct syncretism that compromises truth and reflects a fear of man rather than a fear of God.

I'd like to offer a point of view that many may not have thought of.

When I was a non-believer, well into my 20's and early 30's, I would not have agreed with either John MacArthur or Bishop Talbert. However, of the two, I know I would have respected MacArthur’s conviction of the Gospel and his confidence in what he believes.

In addition to not liking what Bishop Talbert had to say, I would not have respected his (Talbert's) wishy-washy stance. It's pretty easy to tell when a person gives a warm/fuzzy political answer trying to satisfy everyone.

Today, I urge Christians to give the full account of the Gospel message (grace + truth) even though the truth may not seem warm and fuzzy. However, hell and separation from God for eternity is not warm and fuzzy either. Truth can't be omitted from the message. People will most likely not like it but they (non-believers) will respect your conviction. Finally, I’d like to say I’m not trying to promote winning respect. The respect I write about is when you share the Gospel message in its fullness (grace + truth) the truth part will have to be addressed by the listener. The truth will be unsettling and at some level convict the non-believer. The unbeliever has to address his conviction; accept God or continue to deny Him. Either way the man has respected the Gospel message by acknowledging it. The flip side is No Truth = No Conviction.

You’re right the gospel is good and simple, just from watching this segment though it doesn’t seem like the world heard the good news of the gospel. Instead of quoting the verse written to the Galatians (Christians) what if Pastor MacArthur had quoted John 3:16-17? The world already has the bad news let’s give them the good news.

The world does need the Good News. The Good News tells us we are sinners in desperate need of a Savior and that our Lord Jesus is the only one that can do this.

We must love the sinners of this world enough to tell them where they are wrong. That part is not going to sound pleasant but none the less cannot be omitted. I think John MacArthur did a very good job.
